| Sprinkler system saves retail building |
|
On October 7, 2006, 12:30 a.m., the The Fire Department found the fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system recently installed by S&S Fire Suppression Systems. The intense heat set off three sprinkler heads which extinguished the fire. The Fire Department was able to shut off the system and begin their investigation. The general contractor believes the fire started in the rubbish container. The neighboring stores, Katzenberg Express Deli, Dinoffer Leather, and The Wish List, were not affected by the fire itself. Some water run off, however, did go into Magnum Jewelry and their carpet was cleaned and dried. Due to the successful operation of the sprinkler system all stores opened as usual the next morning. Fila’s, which had been scheduled to open October 16th, did have to delay their opening until the 22nd. |
